Tom Haver is the winningest dude at the National Mountain Dulcimer Championships held at the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival in Winfield, Kansas.

Tom took 3rd place in 1979,  2nd place in 1995, 1997,

, 2000,  & 2001 and he was awarded 1st place in 1982 and 1988.

He won a Colorado State contest some time way back. Also, he won the Texas Dulcimer Festival "liar's contest" (story telling) a couple of times.  Bet you're surprised to hear THAT, eh?

Tom Haver aka Storky aka TopDog is one hell of a guy.

I've known Tom a good number of  years and know that my life has been better and crazier for it.

This page is dedicated to the tall man known as
"The Stork"
Tom was born in 1932 in a small run down shack deep in the Rocky Mountians of Colorado. His dad, a sheep herder, went on to fame as a WWII pilot, flying a laundry plane between Tulsa and Guam. His mom, who invented postage stamp glue was very instrumental in Tom's, how you say it, odd behavior that some call comical.

After many years of wandering the country, failing at everything he tried, Tom had a dream that helped him focus on what his path should be. He joined the Moonies. He shaved his head and started passing out flowers at the airport, until one day he realized that Stapleton had closed and the security guards would no longer talk to him. So he went to engineering school and went to work for Camp Dresser and McKee and the rest is history.

He got married, had kids and started playing the Mountain Dulcimer. Finally Tom found something he was good at (using both hands). And thus began Toms path down the road to Winfield history.
